Μετά τις βασικές της σπουδές, έκανε για δύο χρόνια την πρακτική της άσκηση στο Ναυτικό Νοσοκομείο Αθηνών και την μεταπτυχιακή κλινική της άσκηση στην Κλινική Πόνου του Royal United Hospital of Bath. Στο διάστημα αυτό υπήρξε επικεφαλής ερευνήτρια κλινικής μελέτης, η οποία δημοσιεύτηκε στο Acta Neurologica Scandinavica. Επιστρέφοντας στην Ελλάδα, ειδικεύτηκε στην ψυχοθεραπεία ενηλίκων στο Κέντρο Εκλεκτικής Συμβουλευτικής και εργάστηκε για έξι χρόνια στο ιδιωτικό ιατρείο του Δρα Δ.Δ. Μητσικώστα, Καθηγητή Νευρολογίας του Πανεπιστημίου Αθηνών. Στη συνέχεια άνοιξε το δικό της γραφείο, στο οποίο εργάζεται με ενήλικες και εφήβους. Παράλληλα ασχολείται με μεταφράσεις ψυχαναλυτικών κειμένων, με παρουσιάσεις σε σεμινάρια και διημερίδες, με εργασίες σε κλινικές ομάδες. Τέλος, η κ. Ταμπάκη εργάζεται και στην αγγλική γλώσσα.
