Welcome! I'm Sara Pliacha, a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for helping people navigate life’s challenges with understanding and support.
I hold a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Clinical Psychology from Hellenic American University, where I deepened my knowledge of the human mind and the various ways therapy can help. Over the past few years, I've gained experience as an Associate Clinical Psychologist, providing counseling in private practice and at a university counseling center.
My journey in mental health has been shaped by working with diverse communities, especially refugees and migrants. During my BSc, I collaborated with the Ecumenical Refugee Program (ECRP) and Melissa, an NGO dedicated to empowering migrant and refugee women in Greece. These experiences ignited my dedication to promoting well-being and supporting individuals through difficult times.
What I offer:
As a Greek-American, I bring a multicultural perspective to my work, blending various therapeutic approaches, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and mindfulness, to create personalized treatment plans for each client. I focus on Mood Disorders, Trauma, and Grief, creating a safe, compassionate space where clients can explore their emotions and build resilience.
I’ve had the privilege of working at the Hellenic American Education Center (HAEC) Counseling Centre and Roots Wellness Center, where I’ve refined my skills in supporting individuals on their journey toward mental and emotional wellness.
My Approach:
I believe in the power of collaboration and strive to provide therapy that is not only evidence-based but also attuned to each individual’s unique story. Together, we’ll work to understand your challenges, strengthen your inner resources, and create lasting positive change. As a Greek American, my work is influenced by a diverse cultural background. I take pride in embracing an integrative approach, drawing from various therapeutic modalities to tailor treatment plans that suit the unique needs of each individual. I've had the privilege of contributing to the Hellenic American Education Center (HAEC) Counseling Centre and Roots Wellness Center, providing psychotherapy and counseling services focusing on holistic well-being. This setting has been instrumental in broadening my understanding and refining my skills in Cognitive-behavioral Therapy as well as integrating skills from other schools of psychotherapy. My passion lies in assisting individuals dealing with Mood Disorders, Trauma, and Grief. I believe in fostering a safe, collaborative space where clients can explore their emotions and work toward positive change.
