Ο ασθενής θα χρειαστεί να είναι νηστικός για 6 ώρες και να μην έχει καταναλώσει υγρά για 4 ώρες. Θα χρειαστεί επίσης και η διακοπή αντιπηκτικών και σαλικυλικών 3 - 4 μέρες πριν την εξέταση. Treatment: Χρησιμοποιείται εύκαμπτο κολονοσκόπειο υψηλής ανάλυσης και αντιμετωπίζονται παθήσεις, όπως ελκώδης κολίτιδα, Νόσος Crohn, εκκολπωμάτωση εντέρου, πολύποδες εντέρου και αφαίρεση με πολυποδεκτομή, ισχαιμική κολίτιδα- ακτινική κολίτιδα και αιμορροϊδοπάθεια. Ο ασθενής θα χρειαστεί να είναι νηστικός από την προηγούμενη μέρα και να έχει πραγματοποιήσει την προετοιμασία καθαρισμού του εντέρου με καθαρτικά. Συνίσταται και η διακοπή αντιπηκτικών και σαλικυλικών φαρμάκων 3 - 4 μέρες πριν την εξέταση. Το κόστος της εξέτασης διαμορφώνεται αναλόγως του περιστατικού.
