Ο Καλογήρου Θωμάς είναι Αγγειουχειρουργός - Αγγειολόγος, Διδάκτωρ του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης και έχει ολοκληρώσει Μεταπτυχιακή Εκπαίδευση στις Ενδοαγγειακές Τεχνικές στο Εθνικό και Καποδιστριακό Πανεπιστήμιο Αθηνών σε συνεργασία με το Πανεπιστήμιο Biccoca Milano. Διατηρεί το ιδιωτικό του ιατρείο στην Καλαμαριά της Θεσσαλονίκης. Αποφοίτησε από την Ιατρική Σχολή του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης. Υπήρξε Clinical and Research Fellow of Vascular Surgery στο Manchester Royal Infirmary, ενώ τα τελευταία χρόνια διατελεί Ακαδημαϊκός Υπότροφος του Αγγειοχειρουργικού Τμήματος της Β΄ Χειρουργικής Κλινικής του Αριστοτελείου Πανεπιστημίου Θεσσαλονίκης. Ο ιατρός διαθέτει πλούσια επιστημονική δραστηριότητα, με δημοσιεύσεις σε ξενόγλωσσα και ελληνικά περιοδικά, ανακοινώσεις και ομιλίες σε διεθνή συνέδρια, καθώς και συμμετοχές σε πολυάριθμες πολυκεντρικές μελέτες, τόσο στα πλαίσια του NHS, όσο και στην Ελλάδα.
