Εν συνεχεία, υπηρέτησε επί ένα έτος στο Ειδικό Αντικαρκινικό Νοσοκομείο Πειραία "Μεταξά", ως επιμελήτρια Καρδιολόγος, με ιδιαίτερη ενασχόληση την Καρδιο- Ογκολογία. Η κ. Πολυτάρχου έχει σημαντικό επιστημονικό και ερευνητικό έργο με πλήθος δημοσιευμένων επιστημονικών άρθρων σε έγκριτα διεθνή ξενόγλωσσα περιοδικά με υψηλό συντελεστή απήχησης (impact factor), καθώς και σε διεθνή και ελληνικά επιστημονικά συνέδρια Καρδιολογίας.
